LBA Mentoring With Deborah Meaden Begins for Beech Holdings

Local Business Accelerators winners Beech Holdings began their mentoring programme with Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden earlier this week.

Deborah, who will be appearing in the new series of Dragons' Den this Sunday, met with Manchester-based property developer Stephen Beech and head of finance David Potter to discuss their business strategy over the next few years.

Now in its third run, LBA is fronted by national ambassador Deborah Meaden and has been backed by high profile figures such as then Prime Minister David Cameron and business organisations such as the CBI and ICAEW.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News after the mentoring session,  Deborah described local newspapers as “a friend in any household” and said winning LBA and the free newspaper advertising will give the company massive exposure.

Organised by Local Media Works, LBA saw local newspapers up and down Britain join the hunt to find and accelerate the best local businesses through local newspaper advertising, with the Manchester Evening News' nominated business Beech Holdings emerging as the winner.

With a passion for bringing unloved historic buildings back to useful purpose, owner Stephen Beech launched his business in 2013 to develop energy efficient, well designed and affordable accommodation.

Stephen Beech said: “The mentoring session with Deborah went really well, and her advice on next steps and where we should take Beech Holdings was invaluable. I look forward to following up with her again soon.

“The LBA Winner’s prizes have been extremely useful. The advertising campaign in the Manchester Evening News has been really successful and we have seen a noticeable uptake in interest since the campaign launched.”

As the 2016 LBA overall winner, Beech Holdings prize package included business mentoring from Deborah Meaden, free advertising in their local paper, as well as £1,000 worth of business advice from an ICAEW chartered accountant and free entry to three CBI events for small businesses.
